A protective cord and other safety equipment were attached to the planked cliff road and the Nantianmen gateway in Huashan Mountain, to ensure that tourists have a safe trip when climbing the most adventurous part of the mountain. The project has been accomplished recently and will open to tourists soon.

The planked cliff road is located near Nantianmen, east side of the mountain's southern peak with an altitude of 2,160 meters.

It has always been a great challenge and attraction to tourists and adventurers. However, due to safety reasons, the planked cliff road usually remains closed to tourists at golden week holidays or other travel peak time, which arouses dissatisfaction from tourists and explorers.

With an investment of one million yuan, the cliff road equipped with safety equipment now extends to a total length of 110 meters and is installed with advanced protective cord and 30 types of other safety equipment.

It is said that respected Taoist priest He Zhizhen of Yuan Dynasty, who was also considered as the great master of Huashan Taoism, built Huashan planed cliff road. In order to keep him away from the secular world, the priest built the 100-meter-long road by stone nails and wooden rafers and made it suspend 10 meters down the cliff. Tourists taking the road faces abyss on three sides and need to take great caution to finish road which is less than one meter in width.
